Why I finally ordered my Fujifilm x100s this morning.
It has been a while since I have photographed Elizabeth Cruz for a series of bikini images that were VERY well received. After texting back and forth the night before we decided to get together and shoot despite the weather. Weather? Well I am a location shooter and the overnight frost warning did not bode […]
B&H in NYC is selling refurbished Canon 7D camera bodies for only $1,199 here. This is $200 cheaper than Canon sells their refurbs and $300 lower than the new price. While supplies last.
The folks at Wind River Systems have been trying to schedule me to re-shoot their executive photos for almost a year. The goal was to get them while at the corporate HQ. Though we came close a few times, it always fell through at the last minute. To be honest, I expected as much. I […]
Another behind the scenes video. Probably the most requested model in my portfolio is Beth Cruz. Reggie Rucker’s client wanted to do a New Orleans style Fat Tuesday poster for there annual event Central Valley event. I think we NAILED IT Behind the scenes of Tresetti’s Fat Tuesday Poster from Luis Alcazar on Vimeo. […]
Nice behind the scenes video of the Lucky Fest Promo I shot. We photographed everything near the event location as the creative director needed stills of the street and venue then images of various actors and models so he could composite it all afterwards. After the dawn street session we erected a white backdrop in […]

The Engagement of Michelle and Derrick from David 'Art' Wooten on Vimeo. In anticipation of Michelle and Derrick’s wedding next year, we did an engagement photo shoot in Muir Woods. The photos were put into this video and shown at their engagement party as well as on their Save the Date magnets.
Test shoot I did for a new model named Corrie J.

R&B Artist (and I don’t use the word loosely) Prince BlkMagic Damons has updated his website with the photos from our Spring ’10 shoot at his recording studio and home. I really enjoy taking photos of people in their environment, doing what they do best. Prince kindly agreed to let me follow him around for […]
This is a high key portrait of the beautiful Kim Lefebvre in a linen and satin lace corset. As often happens this image came towards the tail end of the shoot and evolved as we began experimenting with poses and setups. The space we shot in was fairly small so a backdrop was out of […]
A short film I made in my backyard after completing the Lynda “Essential Final Cut Pro 7″ course. I have so many ideas for music videos and films and was tired of waiting for camera people and video editors so I decided to learn on my own… let the madness begin.

In preparation for my recent road trip to the Grand Canyon, Bryce, Zion and then Las Vegas, I toyed with the idea of bringing my studio lights. They weren’t that heavy right? How much would the airline overcharge me to bring them? Maybe I could ship them ahead of me via FedEx? Maybe I could rent them there? But after considering the effort, security of the places I would be staying and practicality I opted for my speedlites (4 x 580EX II) instead.
After testing it is our assumption that when the Acute 2R fires, the flash heads power draw is so great that the BatPac can not supply enough electrical charge which effectively turns off the Acute and the built in Pocket Wizard receiver. With the receiver memory now cleared, during re-charge the Acute pack has to re-learn the Pocket Wizard transmitters code again. FLASH, nothing, learning, nothing, learning, nothing, learned, FLASH, unlearn, nothing… You get the point. Perhaps this is a defective BatPac and Profoto USA is looking into that possibility but if not Houston we have a problem that will have to be addressed.
I started my photography career as a natural light disciple. Waking at pre-dawn to take advantage of the best possible light, I would curse cloudless skies and midday sun. Soon I began manipulating mother nature with filters but was increasingly growing tired of the solitude of landscape work. But I am grateful as that period […]
While photographing LA Boxing in Brentwood for a 110 Magazine feature story one member of their staff really took to the camera. In image after image it was apparent that Katrina was a natural. When I asked her how long she has modeled, she laughed and said that though she was a NOS Girl she […]
After deciding that I know longer wished to stifle my non-creative side, I quit selling software and moved behind the lens. This video is a compilation of my first 6 months of shooting professionally. The future is bright and frightening and untold… but I am running toward it with anticipation of what’s to come.
Shot in the early evening, there was not enough light in the house to go natural and wide open. So after playing with lamps, the overhead spot light seemed to the best option. Using a Canon 5D Mark II with an L-series 70-200mm lens, I move the female subject so that the ceiling spot would […]
